Advanced Topics Workshop 2025 (in-person)

If you are new to State Authorization related issues, you may wish first to consider taking the SAN - State Authorization Foundations Course (8-week Online Fundamentals Course), first.  Cohort #1 runs January 21 - March 17, 2025 or Cohort #2 in August 19 - October 13, 2025.

Advanced Topics Workshop Topics

SAN is pleased to bring together experts from across the spectrum of postsecondary institutions and organizations in state authorization, distance education, and professional licensure compliance to discuss and help you develop robust, defensible professional licensure compliance plans. These plans address the complexities of serving students across state lines in professional licensure programs. Participants will explore strategies for creating and implementing policies and processes for licensure disclosures, attestation requirements, and other critical compliance elements. The workshop will also examine applicable statutes and regulations, assess compliance responsibilities, and provide tools for crafting effective stakeholder collaboration and messaging.

The workshop will address the following:

•    Compliance Strategies for Managing Interstate Professional Licensure Requirements
•    Intersection of Federal Regulations, State Authorization, and Licensure Compliance

Workshop Dates

Wednesday April 9, 2025 – Thursday April 10, 2025
In a small group setting, the participants will participate in interactive exercises to obtain direction to create institutions standards for information sharing, collaboration on compliance techniques, and determine a plan of action to share this information with their institutions.

Workshop Tentative Daily Schedule: (plan for the following)
April 9 – 8:00am – 5pm
April 10 – 8:00am – 1:30pm (includes a working lunch)

Who Should Attend?

Professionals who manage state authorization, regulations, and federal updates at educational institutions. This workshop focuses on developing participants who have an understanding of state authorization who can build upon that knowledge to more specifically address more challenging facets of state authorization maintenance in regard to federal and state regulations and related policy requirements and guidance.

Pricing Information:

SAN Member cost is $500 until February 14, 2025, and $650 thereafter. Non-SAN Member cost is $1,000 until February 14, 2025 and $1,300 thereafter. 

Workshop Location Information:

The Advanced Topics Workshop will be held in the Learning Center (1st floor) at the SHEPC Building which is home office for WICHE (SAN & WCET), NCHEMS, and SHEEO (3035 Center Green Dr.) located in Boulder, Colorado.

Hotel Information:

Residence Inn Boulder – (3030 Center Green Drive; Boulder, CO) which is across the street from the workshop.
