Special Interest Team - Goals and Project Plans
Goal
The State Authorization Network (SAN) Special Interest Teams are workgroups made up of volunteer members who share an interest and wish to focus on solutions pertaining to the team’s topic. The group's goal is to discuss, share, and develop best practices for engaging with institutional and college leadership across an institution.
Composition of the Team
Contributors consist of self-nominated SAN members. Ideally, contributors would consist of a representative cross-section of SAN institutions by size and sector. However, the participation and interest of those who wish to actively contribute will always be welcome.
The teams do not have a set minimum or maximum number of participants; however, SAN will encourage large teams to divide into smaller subgroups to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Criteria for Participation
- Any representative from an institution who is a member of SAN (This opportunity is not limited to Coordinators!)
- Interest in the topic and collaborating with SAN colleagues across the country
- Ability to commit to virtual meetings for a period of time, as needed, to address the issue. At a minimum, team contributors should be able to commit to at least a quarterly meeting with some email communication and independent work in between.
Outcomes of the Special Interest Team
The primary objective of Special Interest Teams is to inform and develop deliverables that broadly benefit the membership. Examples may include, but are not limited to:
- White papers & talking points
- Webcasts
- Task and checklist(s)
- One-page digests
Developing Projects and Outcomes for the SAN Year
The enclosed template has been created to assist the team in brainstorming the creation of deliverables and defining the necessary steps to complete the outcomes/deliverables. The following questions may help to support the discussion and design of the project and its intended outcomes:
- What problem is the goal/deliverable trying to solve, or what need will this fulfill?
- Who is the intended audience for this goal/deliverable? Why do they care about this problem? How and in what format will this goal/deliverable be best utilized from their position?
- What does success look like? Does success look different in short- and long-term planning? Does it or should it align with other efforts?
- What resources will be required? What needs do we have for the SAN team?
